Rescues in outside areas are done by LISAR with dog teams and eventually accompanied with a line-up. The dog handlers walk through mainly rough terrain and send the dogs systematically through the woods. If a missing person is found the dogs make this clear to the handlers immediately.
The LISAR dogs are specially trained and certified ( KNPV AND NRHB) for searching countryside terrain. Because of a careful and extensive training they have a lot of stamina so that large areas can be searched.

At the several trainings with smell capsules we have noticed that the dog clearly distinguishes when finding a live or dead victim. In this last case it barks less severely and its general enthusiasm is less.
What reaction the dog shows exactly is dependant on the psychological disposition of the dog; sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic or melancholic.
